Echo Reference — Diastolic Function

Diastolic Function Calculator (2025 ASE)

Step-by-step guided assessment based on the 2025 ASE diastolic function update. Select the clinical context, enter echo measurements, and the tool walks you through the correct algorithm to grade diastolic function and estimate left atrial pressure.

Diastolic Function Grading Tool

Select the clinical context, enter measurements, and the tool walks you through the correct 2025 ASE algorithm.

About this tool

This tool implements the five phenotype-specific algorithms from the 2025 ASE Diastolic Function Update (Nagueh et al., JASE 2025;38:537-569). It guides you step by step through the correct algorithm based on clinical context, assesses primary and supplementary variables, and provides a graded result.

The tool covers: sinus rhythm (3-variable primary assessment with supplementary criteria), atrial fibrillation (4-variable with LARS/PV/BMI supplementary), moderate–severe MAC (E/A + IVRT), pulmonary hypertension (E/A + E velocity classification with LARS/lateral E/e' resolution), and heart transplant (E/e' with E/SRIVR and TR velocity fallback).

For complete reference tables, age-adjusted e' values, measurement pitfalls, special population indicators, and the phenotype-based approach overview, see the full diastolic function reference page.
